Segments
(2024)

Segments are remnants of daily life, habits, pauses, and silences, stitched to tell stories of privacy and secrecy. Tactile snapshots are layered throughout the series of unique artist books.

Dyes were made using plants and fruits that grow in abundance in Vermont including blackberries, goldenrod, Queen Anne Lace with a tinge of elderberry and currants from Poland. In a practice of making dyes from regional flora, I mark time and environments that I inhabit through stains on the fabrics.

Stitching is a form of textural collage that encourages touch, merging past and present, and a methodology to hide fragments of speculation and blemishes that should be concealed and pushed underneath.

A series of 7 unique artist books contain varying stitch-work.
Letterpress, screen-printing, collage, hand-dyed fabrics, sewing, paper + fabrics, stitched.
